Job Talk: ICT Infrastructure Consultant Jeroen Stabel
He started with a temporary assignment, but ICT Infrastructure Consultant Jeroen Stabel has now been working in the bakery for almost 15 years. And with great pleasure, too. After all, there is more IT in our bakery products than you think.

IT as an ingredient
“From receiving orders via the Goedhart Ordering System, dough preparation, packing and labeling to delivery — IT plays a role in it. And I'm not even talking about the reporting facilities.” So a lot of work that the IT team at Bakkersteam Services does all in-house.
All ICT in-house
Bakkersteam Services consists of an enthusiastic, involved and diverse team of experienced IT specialists who together support all Borgesius and Goedhart bakeries 24/7. “We do everything ourselves,” says Jeroen. “From management and maintenance to the complete infrastructure of service to network management from 2 data centers that we own. We have an Application Developers, our own AFAS consultant, BI people, you name it.”
Part of the food supply
His own area of work is infrastructure, in particular networking from wired to wireless, security and server management for the entire organization. Important and varied work. “Because we are a large organization and are everywhere, you are dealing with people from all over the world. And you are part of the bread supply, the food chain in the Netherlands. I think that 80 percent of the Dutch do have one of our products. It is very satisfying to contribute to that.”
Security comes first
It also means that the process must not be disrupted. And that means a lot of attention to security. Jeroen: “Our IT monitoring is done 24/7 by tooling and we also have software for our OT environment. You usually only see that in very large enterprise organizations, but we need to be able to keep running.” The system management and maintenance of the server park are also on the cards of Jeroen and his colleagues. “Plus a number of other areas that I'm responsible for. Like our distribution package, I'm the point of contact for that. So I also regularly work at various locations in the country.”
Connection to the bakery
This connection with the bakery is important for Jeroen and for the organization. “Every bakery is different. Of course, we try to bring consistency to solutions as much as possible, but that is not always possible. So you need to know what's going on and what's needed. Building a relationship with the people at the location.”
When people are happy, so am I.
“What I like? No day is the same here. Something is always happening, there is a failure, something needs to be picked up urgently for a project... We serve 22 branches, so something always happens.” That gives energy: “If there is a major failure and you can tackle the problem quickly, those are the times when I'm happy. Or if you implement something new and people are happy, I'm happy too.” And the occasional treat from the bakery, that also makes the smiling Jeroen happy.
Also an IT job to enjoy?
Contributing to the Dutch food supply as an IT specialist? “If you like challenges, variety and a diverse environment, you've come to the right place. And of course because of the delicious products we make,” says Jeroen. There are vacancies throughout the Netherlands.
