Job Talk: Store Account Manager Jordy Roemers

Jordy Roemers has the most varied job at Bakker Goedhart. As a store account manager for Groningen, Drenthe and Overijssel, he manages 68 stores. He helps them with everything from orders and refusing ovens to finding opportunities in data and redesigning the bread department.

Paying attention to every detail

Bakker Goedhart supplies pre-packaged bread, fresh bread that is cut and packaged on site, and sustainable products such as sugar bread, currants, mini sandwiches and baking rolls. The 15 store account managers ensure that all these products arrive in stores properly, are optimally presented and sell well. “So that means paying attention to all the details and aspects,” says 29-year-old Jordy Roemers. The challenge varies by store and season. “In the North, a lot of sugar bread is eaten in the winter. But when there are many tourists, it is also attractive in the summer. And a store in a new residential area or on the German border has other questions.”

Personal contact and service

“On average, I visit a store once every six weeks. Together, we look at the department and the results. We have a lot of knowledge about bread and sales, as well as a lot of sales data. This is how we make a strategy plan to improve sales.” If bread isn't sold fast enough, a new store layout can help, but also a different range of products or a different distribution between shelf-stable and fresh bread. “I give advice about that,” says Jordy Roemers.

Roll up your sleeves

The store account manager is also rolling up his sleeves: “We help convert and set up the department. We look at everything, including a broken oven or problems with baking. And if I don't know the answer myself, I can ask one of my colleagues or our dough specialist.” The store account managers also play an important role when introducing a new product or reactivation. They must convince the store to put the product on the shelves. Jordy and his colleagues help you find a good place, for example at the entrance or in an action show.

Delivering quality gives energy

In short, Bakker Goedhart provides a lot of service. A big advantage as an entrepreneur. And for the Store Account Manager. “Doing a successful conversion, making a store sell better, that gives me a lot of energy. But also that thanks to your expertise, problems are solved in a store, so that employees can enjoy working again. Or that your vision and plan are included in setting up a new bread department.” Because his love for bread is literally ingrained in him: “I come from a bread family, we were on the market selling bread, cookies and candy. My mother's name is even Goedhart from behind.”
